10. Colombia U 哥倫比亞大學
Founded in 1754, Columbia University is the oldest institution of higher education in New York, and the sixth oldest in North America. In fact John Jay, the very first chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, graduated from Colombia University! Definitely a notable alumni member from one of the very first law schools in the country.
Being consistently ranked as one of the top law schools in the nation, Berkeley has produced leaders in law, government, and society. According to The Daily Journal, 15 out of the top 100 lawyers in California are Berkeley alumni. 14th Chief Justice of the United States Earl Warren graduated from Berkeley back in 1912!
Having been established in 1857, Melbourne Law School is Australia’s oldest and best law faculty. Melbourne Law School has produced several luminaries in law and politics, including four Australian Prime Ministers including Julia Gillard, four Chief Justices of Australia, and 13 Commonwealth Attorneys-General!
Founded in 1895, LSE has produced several notable alumni in the fields of law and particularly social science-related subjects. With more than 20 Nobel Prize recipients (including Bertrand Russell) coming from LSE, it is clear as to why this university is considered a top 10 institution in the world to study law.
Stanford Law School has maintained its reputation as one of the most prestigious law schools in the world. Over 550 students are working toward their Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree. There are also four advanced legal degrees available: a Master of Laws (LL.M.), a Master of Studies in Law (M.S.L.), a Master of the Science of Law (J.S.M.), and a Doctor of the Science of Law (J.S.D.). Stanford also maintains eleven full-time legal clinics, including the nation’s first and most active Supreme Court litigation clinic.
NYU law is regarded as one of the most prestigious and selective law schools in the world and has ranked as high as 4th in the nation in recent years. Renowned for its strength in public interest law, NYU is also ranked 1st in the country by U.S. News & World Report in both international law and tax law. Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City, graduated from NYU Law in 1968.
The school’s small size and prestige makes its admission process the most selective of any law school in the United States. Yale Law has produced a significant number of luminaries in law & politics, including US Presidents Gerald Ford and Bill Clinton.

3. Cambridge 劍橋大學
The Cambridge Faculty of Law is one of the world’s premier law schools, renowned for the quality of its teaching and cutting-edge legal research. The Faculty houses the Institute of Criminology as well as 11 Research Centres. The Faculty has 24 professors, nine readers, and over 70 other University, Faculty and College Teaching Officers. The student body comprises about 700 undergraduate and 225 graduate students.
The Faculty of Law at Oxford University has a history of over 800 years of teaching and writing law. A unique approach is used in the sense of personalised tutorials, whereby students are taught by faculty fellows in groups of one to three on a weekly basis. It offers the largest doctoral programme in Law in the English-speaking world. One of their most notable alumni members is Sir Humphrey Waldock from the International Court of Justice!
Founded in 1817, it is the oldest continually-operating law school in the US. Its acceptance rate was 15.4% in the 2013-14 admissions cycle, while being 16.5% in its most recent intake. Harvard Law School graduates have accounted for 568 judicial clerkships in the past three years, including one-quarter of all Supreme Court clerkships, more than any other law school in the United States.
